This workshop will introduce the process of casting small hollow-core glass sculptural forms and intricate vessels. The class will cover the process of creating hollow forms using an adaptation of the core-forming process. Core-forming is one of the oldest forms of glass vessel making, and the process has been adapted for lost-wax kiln-casting. Additional techniques covered will include hollow-core mold making, alginate molds, wax sculpting, firing schedule development, color considerations, and basic cold-working.

Instructor Bio: Michael Endo is an artist and curator originally from Portland, Oregon. He earned an MFA in painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan, in 2009 and a BA from Portland State University, Oregon, in 2005. 

Endo is the Artistic Director of Pilchuck Glass School (Stanwood, Washington) and the curatorial consultant at Bullseye Projects. In addition to his curatorial and studio practices, he is a frequent lecturer and teaches classes at all levels. Recent course venues include Penland School of Craft (Penland, NC), The Studio at Corning Museum of Glass (Corning, NY), Bild-Werk Frauenau Academy (Frauenau, DE), Pilchuck Glass School (Standwood, WA), Urban Glass (Brooklyn, NY), Northlands Creative (Lybster, UK), Portland Community College (Portland, OR), and Oregon College of Art and Craft (Portland, OR).
