Time: 10:00am - 5:00pm

This one-day intensive workshop introduces frit tinting with Bullseye Glass - a method for expanding and precisely controlling your color palette for kilncasting and pâte de verre. Frit tinting involves carefully blending colored glass powders with clear glass frit to create nuanced blending and custom colors. Casting with powder and frit produces a frosted, cloudy, and impressionistic effect allowing for soft, painterly color transitions.

The first half of this workshop will be dedicated to creating a series of test samples. Students will explore how different ratios of colored powder influence saturation, translucency, and depth. Together, the class will produce a shared set of samples demonstrating a wide range of color saturation and blends. After the class, each student will receive a complete set of these samples to use as a reference in future work.

During the second half of the workshop, students will apply these techniques to make a small open-face casting using frit-tinted glass, translating their experiments into a finished piece. The class will also include a lecture on adjusting firing schedules for casting with frit and powder.

Open to all levels, however previous glass casting experience is recommended. Finished castings and samples will be shipped or available for pick up after class.
